We had one small problem that I was lead to believe was HUGE when running the electric to the dome. Jim made a stand out of angle iron for the electrical boxes and meter because he did not want to drill them into the brick. He hooked it up the same as the temporary power pole. When the electric company came out to dig and run the lines they said it was hooked up backwards. They called it in and said that we would be getting a phone call to reschedule for when we fixed the problem.
We did receive a phone call within an hour telling me that we could not have the power run to the outside of the house under where the box and meter where to be. It had to be run through the wall and the electrical panel had to be right on the other side. This freaked me out! We have the panel box in the middle of the house under the stairs not right in my living room. Also we ran conduit under the footings and slab to the outside right by the brick ledge. They made it sound as though I would have to jack hammer up my slab, which is stained concrete with no plans for carpet.
I did get lucky, they had a different tech in the area and he came out to calm me down and see what actually needed to be done. He told me that our way of running the conduit to the panel in the middle of the house was just fine and that it was a shame that the office people didn’t know what they were talking about. All we needed to do was change where Jim had put the coupling between the meter and the emergency shut off switch. Jim fixed it that night after he got off work and they dug the next day.
Jim has run a few lines so that we can plug things in and wired up the outside front porch lights. He will run more lines after all the studs are in.
