While our house was under contract we started the master bathroom so that we would have a place to get cleaned up when we moved in. I had found a Jacuzzi tub at Lowes for a great price months back so we had it on hand. The boxed in area that we left for the drain in the slab was slightly off. Jim had to chip away a small amount of cement to fit the drain in properly. It also took many trips to the hardware store to find just the right combination of 22, 45 degree pieces. We had planned for an access panel in the half bath to the master bath tub/shower in case we ever needed to get to the plumbing down the road. I am glad we had, it sure helped Jim to see what he was doing. Otherwise he may have had to become a pancake and squish under the tub and work. Jim’s dad was a great help in fitting in the tub.
We have put in a toilet and a temporary sink. We are using the sink that goes up in the playroom because it is more like a kitchen sink. When Jim has time he will put in the real vanity which is an antique dresser. He has to modify the drawer space for the sink drains and then put granite tile on the top. It is working out good for know the way it is.
Jim got the first instant hot water heater installed a few days after we moved in. It was a welcome addition. The baths were very refreshing for a few days ,but not horrible because it was August and still hot here in Texas.
We have started to tile the walls around the tub but have not finished. The urgency stopped when Jim got the shower done upstairs.
We have started to work in the master bathroom again. Jim was going to try to arch the ceiling over the tub but it just wasn't working right. We were losing too much head room. He did a flat ceiling instead which is fine. I have tiled it, and now can start to finish to wall tiles. I am a chicken and want Jim to cut out the tiles that go around the faucet and shower pieces. He has done it before and know that he can do a great job. So I will leave that to the pro. When he gets around to that I will finish the walls and grout the tiles. We have installed a row of the granite tile like the ones that we will be installing on the vanity top around the sink.
You can see in the pictures our temporary kitchen sink arrangement. This unit will be moved up into the playroom when the down stairs (real ) kitchen sink is installed. The kids will have this sink, for them and their friends to wash up in, a small frig, to get refreshments, and microwave to pop popcorn in.
